CHAIRPERSON - CWSA MARGATE

Mrs. Wendy Meyer, the Chairperson of Child Welfare South Africa

Margate who joined the organisation in August 1998 as a Management Committee member. Wendy took over the position of Chairperson in 2004 and has utilized her previous business acumen as a Credit Manager at Clover SA to carry the Margate branch from strength to strength.

CHAIRMAN - KZN PROVINCIAL BOARD - MR.A.D. RAMASAR

Mr. Ramasar who is a member of the management committee of CWSA Umzinto was chairperson of the organisation for a period in excess of 20 years. An outstanding commitment to community service. In addition, he rendered voluntary services to Child Welfare in South Africa for the past 35 years. Mr. Ramasar is the present chairman of CWSA, KZN Provincial Board. He is the Board's official representative on CWSA National Board.Mr. Ramasar also assisted the CWSA National Board with amendments to the CWSA Constitution in 2004 and the CWSA Membership Regulations, subsequently.

Your contribution and that of many others are recognised and appreciated.

CHILD WELFARE SOUTH AFRICA PRINCIPLES

Child Welfare South Africa shall:

-Accept as a primary consideration the fulfilment of its object in all policy, management decisions and efforts.

-Be voluntary by nature and this characteristic shall be reflected in its management.

-Remain non-governmental and independent.

-Confirm its belief in the dignity, diversity, equality and worth of all people.

-Be committed to developing and maintaining services which accessible and relevant to the basic needs children.

-Be committed to providing services in a form and language which is accepted to the communities served.

-Be committed to providing services which are affordable within the context of the need in this country.

-Emphasise preventive, promotive and developmental approaches in the planning and implementation of its services.

-Be committed to creating public awareness of children's needs and rights and society's responsibilities to provide a nurturing environment for them.

-Maintain structures which ensure the devolution of power to regional and local level.

-Commit itself to the broadest possible democratically representative base in its local, regional and national structures.

-Promote community volunteer, personnel and consumer participation in structures and services.

-Strive to uphold social justice, democracy and human rights.

-Not align itself with any particular ethnic group, political party or ideology.

-Remain accountable and transparent to its constituency and the public for its decisions and actions.
